The Punjab government has announced new safety rules for motorcyclists ahead of the upcoming Basant festival in Lahore. As part of enhanced safety measures, all motorcycles will be required to have safety rods installed during the three-day event.
“Mehfooz Basant” to Be Held in Lahore
Lahore Commissioner Maryam Khan confirmed that the festival, branded as “Mehfooz Basant”, will take place on February 6, 7, and 8, and will be limited strictly to Lahore district.
She shared the details while presiding over a meeting attended by:

Safety Rods Mandatory for Motorcycles
Under the Kite Flying Ordinance 2025, motorcycles without safety rods will not be allowed on city roads during the Basant period. This rule has been introduced to prevent injuries caused by kite strings, especially metal-coated lines.
To help citizens comply, authorities will set up around 100 road safety camps across Lahore.
